Witchstock 2010

Ogden’s First Witchstock Promises Spooky Fun
On Saturday, October 23, 2010, Historic 25th Street and Union Station will come alive with bewitching fun during Ogden’s first Witchstock presented by X96 radio. The festivities will last from 3 to 10 p.m. with a parade of witches, a scavenger hunt, ghost tours, magicians and performances by Cirkus Pandemonium and magicians Mysterious Mister Dayley and Brandon Chapman. Ogden City, Union Station and the Historic 25th Street Business Association invite the community to become a witch for the day (and well into the night). Activities slated during the first ever Witchstock include Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” dance lessons, card readers, street performers, fortune tellers and ghost stories and ghost tours of 25th Street. Vendors will line the street and offer their best wares. Attendees who come dressed in costume will be eligible to win prizes in various contests and will receive special discounts and offers from participating downtown merchants and restaurants. Businesses on Historic 25th Street will host a scavenger hunt and will decorate their shop windows in celebration of the season and this event. Prizes will be awarded for the best window decorations. Also, a new H25 business, The Imaging Depot, will be taking souvenir photos at Union Station. The fun will continue down the street at Historic Union Station. The fountain at Ogden’s Union Station will transform into a giant witch’s caldron and witches will witness a 458-pound pumpkin being carved in Union Station’s Grand Lobby. Other festivities planned include a Witch’s Tea Party featuring award-winning author Linda Dunning, author of several books about spirits, specters, ghosts and mysterious creatures of Utah. “Night at the Museum” ghost tours will be offered, a “Witches and Warlocks Twilight Morp” (prom) will happen at 8:00pm and several fun contests will be held at the station and on the street. The cost to attend the Witch’s Tea Part is $20. Space is limited and registration is recommended, but not mandatory. To reserve a spot visit the Union Station Gift Shop or call 801.393.9890. Admission for the Witches and Warlocks Twilight Morp is $10 but can be free if attendees participate in the scavenger hunt.

IndigoSage Design Star
We know you all share the same guilty pleasure with us of watching those obnoxious TV design shows. You may even channel your inner Simon Cowell as you find yourself critiquing the designer’s every move from the comfort of your sofa (I know I do!). Have you ever thought to yourself “if only I could do that”? Well, here’s you chance…We want you to be the next IndigoSage Design Star!!!
IndigoSage Furniture Gallery is challenging anyone out there, no matter your age or profession, to design a window merchandising vignette to be displayed throughout the fall season. The winner of this contest will have their design implemented, as best as we possibly can, in our main 25th Street-side window, and will be recognized as our IndigoSage Design Star in our showroom and newsletter, and on our website, blog, and facebook and twitter pages. We want the world to see what you accountants, librarians, and so-called “non-visual” people can create. Entries will be anonymously posted each day on our blog and voting will take place by posting comments on each entry posted. Even if your creative juices aren’t flowing please follow our blog and participate in voting for the most creative designs.
Can’t wait to get started? Here are those dreaded rules…
The dimensions of our main raised window area are 7’6” long by 10’ wide, and 12’ high. Designs must be created within this space, and there is one major obstacle, so read the notes on the entry form carefully. Although we would love to create your most elaborate designs spot-on, you are limited to the furniture and accessories we currently have in stock, so please be nonspecific when choosing items for your design. Items you may use include: king, queen or twin beds; dressers, chests or cabinets; accent table, coffee table, console/sofa tables, dining tables or desks; accent chairs, dining chairs, arm chairs, sofas or barstools; rugs, table lamps, floor lamps, chandeliers/pendants, mirrors, artwork, faux florals/trees or miscellaneous accessories. We also have access to hanging and mounting supplies, but use common sense while specifying items to be suspended. If you think it might be too heavy to hang from our ceiling then it probably is! Add any needed notes and go crazy! Ask us questions…we are here to help! We will post a sample entry form to show you what to do. To get your hands on an entry form stop by IndigoSage, or, until we can get the full size form posted to the blog, email julia@indigosagegallery.com and you will receive a reply email with the pdf attachment. Entries can be submitted in person at our showroom, emailed, faxed, or mailed. Addresses and our fax number are on the entry form. The deadline for submitting entries is September 11th. Voting will continue until September 15th, and the IndigoSage Design Star and winning design will be unveiled September 20th. The vignette will be visible 24/7 on Historic 25th Street until the week of Thanksgiving.
This is your opportunity to not have to live vicariously through those TV designers so get going! We are really excited to see your entries!

Something to brighten your day...
Yellow is the sunny shade of optimism!Yes, yellow can be mellow -- or exuberantly bright, richly golden, or soft and lemony.
Yellow is the color of spring's first crocuses and narcissus pushing up through the soil to signal an end to winter and the rebirth of color. What could be more hopeful than that?
Yellow is how children draw the sun, it's how we visualize warmth, which is what it brings to a room. A touch of yellow brightens any sceme and marries well with other colors -- green, blue, red, or neutrals. While a roomful of yellow would be blinding, splashes of yellow, or more muted shades of gold, honey or lemon custard provide a sunny, cheerful welcome in a hallway or kitchen, living room, bedroom or bath -- and we've picked the perfect yellows for you. From our "Spectrum Sunflower" rug to "Sunkissed" or "Garland Daffodil," it's easy to see why yellow always has a place in our hearts.

It's Homeshow Time!
It's always a little crazy in the summer in our business. The parades are always so much fun! Since opening in 2006, we've participated in three different parades; Northern Wasatch, Salt Lake and Park City. We have done a total of 9 homes and have captured a few awards along the way. Each home has had its own personality and its own set of challenges, but each has turned out beautiful and fun. With each home there's been great people we've worked with and have made lasting friendships. That's the best part.
This year is no exception. Our furniture is featured in Home #23 in this year's Northern Wasatch Parade. The home is very well done and is a great take on mountain contemporary. It's filled with great design and fabulous art. Stay tuned for photos of the house and tips to get the look!
